A month after the resignation of former health ministers,Prof. Mrs. Adenike Grange and Mr. Gabriel Aduku, over allegations of financial impropriety, the Presidency is yet to consider the appointment of new ministers to replace them.
The two ministers resigned their positions in the Federal Executive Council following reports that they flouted a Presidential directive on unspent budgetary allocations by authorizing the illegal disbursement of about N300m among staff and management of the ministry. Go to punch website for more
So effectively as I am writing this, Nigeria does not have a health minister, this is ironic, considering that our president just arrived yesterday from a treatment in Germany for (I hope you are sitting down) allergy treatment, yes he had allergic reaction and had to be flown abroad for treatment, our leaders are shameless. Only in Nigeria can this happen, imagine if he had heart attack, he would have to be flown abroad for resuscitation if he doesn't give up the ghost before he gets there.
Perhaps you are thinking this is not possible, well our leaders and the rich take pride in going for treatment abroad so when they have heart attack it is like a death penalty because the nearest defibrillator is in Europe or America, I don't sound convincing enough, if you are wondering why a who president of a country will be taken abroad at a time when he must get treatment within minutes of a heart attack then you haven't heard the story of Eyadema the former president of Togo who died while being transported to Europe after suffering heart attack.
